Caramelized Onion Dip

INGREDIENTS

350g brown onions thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp oil
1 tbsp brown sugar
Salt to taste
¼ cup water
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp Supreme Coarse Black Pepper
⅓ tsp Supreme Garlic Powder
300g cream cheese
300ml sour cream
3 tbsp mayo
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley & extra to garnish
Sourdough toast

METHOD

Heat butter & oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onions, salt and sugar, and saute stirring occasionally. Every so often pour a little bit of water in and let cook out. Once the onions have reached a deep golden brown, add balsamic vinegar and garlic powder, and cook for for 3-4 minutes then remove from heat and cool. In a bowl mix together cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, coarse black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, cooled caramelised onions, chopped parsley and salt (if needed). Transfer into a serving dish, garnish with chopped parsley and cool or at room temperature with sourdough toast, crisps, chips etc.
